reviewing everything from history to young adult.

Forbidden

Forbidden - Tabitha Suzuma I didn't even know such book existed...someone recommended it to me and i thank them so much.
The author is british and i have to say that i admire her guts to write and to publish such a book...in the western world.

i have read a lot of manga that have to do with incest or brother - sister love and sex and all of that (Angel Sanctuary,Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo Suru) there are also anime...
what i dpnt understand is why Asians seem to be a little cooler with that issue. i know that is genetically weird to have a physical relationship with your brother or with a cousin but i know that a lot of us have seen a cousin and thought something improper..its just the nature of the human...we love to play with fire and when something is off limits subconsciously we want to make it ours.

Apparently the book wants to teach us not to be so judgemental of people and their likes. through my early childhood to my late adolescence i experienced a lot of judgemental people and i dont really do that. i know a girl that she has a relationship with her brother (not a broken family) and i have no problem with them since they dont do anything to anyone.

of course i am not saying that everyone has to go and have sex with a family member cuz after a generation the earth would be full with hybrids due to genetic anomalies but i want to say is that things happen and instead of judge people we should put our feet in their shoes and think how we would react if we were them.

To the book
i have never ever read something like that in my entire life. the book itself it was provoking and great. i would not recommend a hormone-unstable teen to read this due to descriptive sexual scenes and the theme of incest. it falls under the category of young adult but i would totally put it under the category of adult.

the characters were greatly developed to the point i cried with them, laughed, anguished and *hhmm* wanted them epicly bad to find some time alone. the book itself is good written, i felt like i was in the same room as Maya and Lochie watching them.

To be honest with you i didnt really like the ending but thats just me. i could have turned out completely different and i felt it was not fair for the characters.

Time Between Us

Time Between Us - Tamara Ireland Stone I would never read this book if my librarian didn't recommend it...you see i am a regular at the public library and everyone knows who i am...kind weird...anyway she recommended this amazing , beautiful , great book and i am so glad that i read it.

First of all the plot:
well designed and at the right pace...not to slow not to fast just moderate so i could turn the pages like a maniac. The adventure starts around page 90 - 100 and for the next 250 pages you want more and more as the plot reaches its climax.

Secondly the Characters:
one of the best writing i have ever experienced. i loved both of the main characters and the side ones. the nice thing about the author is that with a few words she gives you the big picture of each person and you simply have to follow and love him. you hurt with them you cry with them - amazing.

you see it has the right amount of romance and love and it doesnt overdo itself...in my opinion in the second book we will get to see a lot more romance and i honestly cant wait for it to be released on October 2013!!!

I totally recommend this book.

Warm Bodies

Warm Bodies - Isaac Marion an enjoying novel.....like twilight but from a zombie's point of you.....

Second Kiss

Second Kiss - Natalie Palmer this books is great. seriously!!!
when i first started it i was about to drop it cuz i thought it will be a boring love story of 14 y.o's. i was wrong. it was a little more complicated and the characters took their times something that made me turn the pages like crazy.

the books it is well written and the characters well developed to the point that you feel them and care about them.

when i finished the book i was thinking about it for a long time and i wanted it more.
i definetely recommend it.

Writing Magic: Creating Stories that Fly

Writing Magic: Creating Stories that Fly - Gail Carson Levine a good book for ideas...a little poor when it comes to actual techinques....

The Michael Jackson Tapes: A Tragic Icon Reveals His Soul in Intimate Conversation

The Michael Jackson Tapes: A Tragic Icon Reveals His Soul in Intimate Conversation - Shmuley Boteach wow i was a little confused with the rating but i finally managed to rate it a huge 3.!!!

so just to make myself clear throughout the book i only read the conversations between mj and the rabbi. i didnt read his comments at all because i would get very mad.

so what i came to realise is that michael was an amazing person. he had deep knowledge of history and religion and you can see that throughout the book. i loved the way he spoke the words he used.

i would just loved to have a conversation with mj. he was such a interesting person and nothing like the person the media presented. at some points in the books its easy to lose track of who is talking.

many of the things that the rabbi and mj discussed had to do with fame, money, childhood, children etc. you can see that mj only wanted to take care of kids and help those in need. he wanted to bring nations together through his songs and he managed that well.

what i didnt like is that the rabbi kept reapeating himself over and over keeping the conversation to children and innocence. that was kind of weird. at some points i read his comments and what he did (mostly) was to apologize for some things michael said. its like mj didnt have an opinion on some matters and that all people should believe the same things...thats what the rabbi did through his comments. why would you discuss with someone when you are not ready to hear and accept their beliefs and opinions.

lastly, it was a big mistake of the rabbit to make a book after michael. i know it was mj's wish but still he sold out his friend.

p.s. through the book he is advertising a lot of his books...

Lucy in the Sky

Lucy in the Sky - Anonymous Anonymous okay the book says in the tradition of go ask alice. so i knew what i would read but i didnt like it at all...
its not about the drugs its that the book is exactly the same as go ask alice which i loved but i would like to read something different and not the same shit again and again. the only difference is that the protagonist doesnt die and that she keeps contact with her family.
i know the whole thing is a fake and not something that really happened as some claim but the girl was totally stupid it was like she wasnt thinking 90% of the time of what she was doing.

My Life Next Door

My Life Next Door - Huntley Fitzpatrick This is none of my favorite books!!!
NO SPOILERS

The Plot:
it was amazing to finally read a love story that it takes its time, deals with real life problems and moms and slowly bloom into an unconditional love! it was amazing. the author gave time to the main characters to develop their relationship and eventually take it to the next level. it seemed so natural and i wanted to read more and more and more.

The Characters:
Fully developed and each one had to deal with its own demons. The author gives you a clear view of each one and you immediately know if you gonna like them or not. e.x. Sam;s mom is a total bitch and you know that from page one as the book moves on you find more reasons to hate her and in the end you hate her even more for what she did.

The Language:
The language that is being used in the book is appropriate you dont find yourself reading the same words over and over again to the point you want to tear the book in half. the use of metaphores is great and beautiful.

Overall:
its a great summer reading book and i would totally recommend it.

You are Not Alone: Michael: Through a Brother's Eyes

You are Not Alone: Michael: Through a Brother's Eyes - Jermaine Jackson First of all i am a huge fan of michael jackson. i read lots of books about him from various authors who claimed they knew Mj but this book puts everything in order.
Jermaine wrote a book that sets the truth straight.

He starts with the childhood years and how hard they trained to become singers and dancers and here a lot of questions are being answered about michaels personality. ..and by that i mean the masks he wore, the way he worked etc etc.

He continues to the era of michael being a solo artist and how he lost touch with his family andthe people that were around him. He woild sometimes go on and say that he didnt trust certain people and that people did things without him knowing.

Some of us think that people treated him as an icon all the time but not the people he worked with...some of them treated him like trash and michael didnt like the way he was being talked to.
At last the book concludes to the Neverland Years when michael faced pedophilia charges and how he responded and felt. What striked me was the michael had a 5 year plan on 2008 and that the This is It concerts wouldnt be the last ones.

I will leave the book to you to read and make your own judgements but what i have to say is that this is the only book that you need to read about michael. It will solve a lot of questions and make you see michael differently.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

The Perks of Being a Wallflower - Stephen Chbosky i have to say that in this particular situation the movie was better and not at all boring. truth is that charlie is a difficult character to understand. he is introverted and shy and he didnt have any friends so to experience certain situations and most of the things that happen to him are new and strange. to be honest the book is a little boring and i had to drop it on page 60 because the movie was faithful to the book and i pretty much knew what would happen. but if you havent watch the movie i suggest that you read the book first.

Michael Jackson: The Making of "Thriller": 4 Days/1983

Michael Jackson: The Making of "Thriller": 4 Days/1983 - Douglas Kirkland I was hoping for the actual making of the video clip l...the dance
.the crew etc. this book is al about michael and how he interacted with everyone and how everyone remembered him.full with rare pictures of michael on and off set. its beautiful to see that he was actually a good man and not like those stars that snap to everyone. I really love michael..his music everything that have to do with him. what I didn't pike was that the book was about thriller and had quotes from sigers and people of the scene talkijg about jis tragic death.

Prozac Nation

Prozac Nation - Elizabeth Wurtzel a good book if you want insight of depression and the world of prozac. i really enjoyed the book and also the movie.

Letters to Juliet: Celebrating Shakespeare's Greatest Heroine, the Magical City of Verona, and the Power of Love

Letters to Juliet: Celebrating Shakespeare's Greatest Heroine, the Magical City of Verona, and the Power of Love - Lise Friedman;Ceil Friedman this book is not a novel as i thought it would be. its a book which contains the history of the Club of Juliette and how people from all over the world send letters to her and the secretaries replied. the book also contains some moving letters and the responses which was kind of moving. people really believe in the power of love and the took the time to write to juliette. the secretaries did a great job by reading the letters and replying to those people.
i remind you that this is not a novel but a collection of letters and brief historical facts.

Shark Girl

Shark Girl - Kelly Bingham i liked this book although it was kinda...teen. also i have to warn you that this is a novel in verse...
i liked how the girl described her feeling through the book about her hand and her family and her friends and everyone it was just moving at some points.
this book made me appreciate the things that i have and not take anything from granted because you never know whats in store for you.
i would totally recomment it as a summer book but not if you are afraid of sharks.

The Boy Who Sneaks in My Bedroom Window

The Boy Who Sneaks in My Bedroom Window - Kirsty Moseley okay here comes. i am so dissapointed from this book. i was looking forward to it because my boyfriend used to come to my room every night after my parents were asleep but it wasnt so cheesy.
1) The Characters:
while you are reading this book you will have to deal with a bunch of 16 y.o and some 18 y.o. who act like they are five and they only thing that actually cross their minds is sex and how to nail each other by betting (yup and i mean a lot of money). The protagonist is supposed to be suffering from sexual abuse BUT i dont see her dealing with it when her bf is all over her (who by the way only thinks on how to tap her ass...like all the time)
2) The Plot:
i dont know what the hell crossed the writers mind...it seemed like she didnt plan it at all and she was just writing whatever dropped in her stupid mind. its unrealistic and most of the times stupid and you can even connect with the protagonists.
3) The Writing:
those of you that have read it you have noticed...those of you who gonna read it you gonna notice too. the writer is repeating herself over and over again with the words pourring, winking, smirking, groaning etc etc. its like before she started writing she decided to just write down 7 words for expression and thats whats she been using through the entire book. i dont even want to comment on the sentence construction.
4) Sex scenes:
wtf???? like seriously why didnt she published this novel through Harlequin? that book would be perfect under this category. there was so much sex and description that it was seriously disturbing. okay i not say that i was fun of the twilight- no -sex -at- all -to - the-point -that - you -scream-for-it but she could have keep it down a notch and actually show to the reader that Liam and Amber have a deep relationship and they talk about other stuff apart from sex and how to make each other horny.

In a few words read it only if you have nothing to read and you prefer Harlequin romance.

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight - Jennifer E. Smith if you have read After Hello then you will love this. initially i was a little reluctant about reading this book because i have to admit that i just the book by its cover and it seemed pretty corny but i read it and i didnt regret it.
the characters are mature and you can easily follow their feeling. the wirting is okay and the plot was amazing. of course like every book of this genre it had some moments were stupid but what can we do this is love...hahah.
i would totally recommend this book.
